Features
The JHS-182 AIS is a ship borne system capable of regularly broadcasting own ship's unique information and continually receiving and displaying information broadcast from other vessels. All vessels and VTS operators within VHF range and equipped with an AIS transponder can continually receive and display information from other vessels. The AIS can "see around corners", allowing avoidance of dangers before visual contact has been established. All ship's information including static and voyage related data such as the ship's name and cargoes, as well as its dynamic navigational information, i.e., position, course, and speed can be transmitted and received. In accordance with IMO carriage requirements and SOLAS (Chapter V, Regulation 19), passenger ships, vessels over 300GT on international voyages and all vessels over 500GT are mandated to carry AIS. Existing vessels will be required to carry AIS on a schedule that phases the retrofits between July 1, 2003 and July 1, 2008. All vessels built on or after July 1, 2002 are required to carry AIS (Automatic Identification System).
Smallest AIS Transponder
JRC's unique compact antenna transponder design consists of the VHF antenna, GPS antenna, VHF transceiver and data processor. The new JHS-182 is downsized using highly reliable LSI technologies.
Large Screen Ensures Comfortable Visibility
The JHS-182 has a 5.7 LCD screen display, which presents the information given from the target ship list and plotting viewer with clear visibility.
Easy Installation
The JHS-182 consists of three components, transponder, display and a connection box. The components are light and compact. This new concept also allows for easy setting up as only one coax cable is required between the transponder and junction box, contributing to an easier setup with less error and significantly reduced installation time.
Stress Free Operation
The AIS has become an important piece of navigation equipment to assure safe navigation. A simple joystick and jog-dial operation allows for easy navigating through the AIS real-time information.
Integration with Navigation Equipment
The JHS-182 is an important piece of navigation equipment onboard for collision avoidance and maneuvering. The information broadcasted from other ship's displayed on the AIS, together with the geographical information shown on the radar or ECDIS provides highly applicable data for strategic decisions and for prompt contact with other ships.
